Cookies by Janet-Janet Thompson
“Cookies by Janet" started with a molasses ginger cookie, which are sold by the dozen or by individually wrapped and decorated shapes. Since opening a booth at the Farmers market in Chesterville 3 years ago, I have expanded the cookie selection to include :oatmeal chocolate chip and jam/date filled oatmeal. I have also been successful with pie, with the top seller being pumpkin and my own unique craisin (homemade raisin filling topped with whole fresh cranberries). Donuts were introduced 2 years ago and they do indeed taste like grandmas did. The apple butter tarts were created for "apple day" at the market in 2010, and are favourites of many customers. In all of my baking I use as little sugar as possible.
In the summer I enjoy gardening and making homemade pickles like mom always did. This year, both the icicle and dill pickles won first prize at the Spencerville fair.
At Christmas, fruitcake, brownie cheesecake, shortbread cookies and tortierre, are added to my selection. Looking for a gift to give - a dozen cookies are wrapped in festive wrap for neighbours, teachers etc. A bride and groom added ribbon and their thank you note to 2 wrapped ginger cookies and given as a wedding favour this past August.

Vegetables in season
We have a vegetable garden on one side of the house and a potato garden on the other side. By swapping the two crops each year we keep ahead of the potato bugs who spend the summer travelling only to find we moved the potatoes again! We are pleased to offer small quantities of our harvest from time to time when it exceeds the capacity of our family. Over the years our gardens have enjoyed annual additions from our own compost pile in lieu of fertilizer.

Alvin Runnals: Runnalong Farm
We purchased a farm in Winchester Township, now North Dundas, in 1973, and have farmed here ever since. We were dairy farmers for many years, then beef, and now cash crop, growing corn and beans. I've been a hobby beekeeper for thirty years; presently we have six hives that produce 700 to 1000 pounds a year. We try to keep our honey production as natural as possible.

Chef Heather ParentI think I am best remembered for my Italian style coffee house "Jaspers Fine Dessert Caffe" in Chesterville.
I was a vendor at the Chesterville Farmers Market for about 6 years. The last 2 years I have pursued other endeavors and now I am the proud owner of "Jaspers Xpress"-a year round chip wagon on the parking lot of the Canadian Tire store in Morrisburg.
I am proud to return to the new market concept. As much as I enjoy my new endeavour, I can't wait to get my hands back into flour to create my old line of desserts and savories.
If there is something special you would like please email me at jasperspetitesindulgences.com.
My specialities are dessert as well as British & Indian food.
